Game (and toy) on! (at Amazon)
Amazon just announced they have opened their doors to any toy sellers. In Q4 they were very selective of who they allowed to post there. Details on the CA corp blog here. We've seen the folks at the big A get much more aggressive recruiting mid-tier and SMB retailers and have ramped up our functionality at CA and see it as a big area we're working on next year. To put it in perspective we had more Amazon sales in Q406 than all of 2005, so those guys are definitely ramping up the third-party sales. We'll keep an eye on their Q4 results and detail any third-party seller news they reveal.
Scot,
Thanks for the writeup, interesting. I'm not sure, however, how to take your comment that "we had more Amazon sales in Q406 than all of 2005". First, I assume you're talking specifically about the toys category. Second, I would hope you're doing more in 4Q06 than in 2005 because I believe Amazon was doing close to zero deals with third parties in the toys category in 2005 due to its Toys R Us relationship. Please explain.
Thanks
